Where Michael Stands

Three things Michael is running to do for Berkeley County Council District 7, shaped by the neighbors he’s meeting at the door.

The platform

Steer the Growth.

District 7 is the last frontier of a county that is filling up fast. The growth is coming either way, and protecting our quality of life in Berkeley County’s last frontier is Michael’s priority. And Michael is the only candidate sitting at the table advocating for the people who live here.

Slow the Sprawl

Every new rooftop on a two-lane road means more traffic, more wear on small bridges, and more strain on infrastructure that was never built to carry it. Michael’s answer isn’t to pretend growth will stop. It’s to steer it. Build where the water, sewer and roads already are. Protect the green space that makes District 7 worth living in. And when a developer comes, negotiate hard for buffers, for road access, and for real investment in the community they’re building in, because a county that refuses to come to the table gets whatever the developer decides to build.

Infrastructure

District 7’s roads and bridges already carry more than they were built for, and the traffic hasn’t peaked yet. Michael is working with the county’s road department to find out exactly where the penny sales tax is being spent, on what schedule, and how much of it comes back to this district. District 7 pays it. District 7 ought to see it in the pavement.

Grow the Tax Base, Not the Tax Bill

Light industry in the right places pays far more into the county than a subdivision does, and it doesn’t fill a school or put another car on a two-lane road at seven in the morning. That’s how District 7 pays for its own roads and schools without raising what families here already pay.

Why Michael

One Vote. A Lot of Phone Numbers.

A county councilman is one vote out of nine. What decides whether District 7 actually gets heard is who picks up the phone. Michael has spent his life building those relationships, and he’ll use every one of them.

A washed-out road doesn’t ask who you voted for.

Roads, fire trucks, drainage, ambulances. County council isn’t Washington, and the work doesn’t split along party lines. Michael will work with anyone who wants to get District 7 a better deal.
